Why not double up?

Next time you’re purchasing an artwork think about doubling up and purchasing two smaller artworks and hanging them side by side instead of one large work.

This works well above bed heads and behind dinning room tables which have wall space behind them. When it comes to choosing artwork size and scale matters.

A basic guide when choosing the size and scale of an artwork is the painting should be two-thirds of the wall space available which isn’t covered by furnishings.

For example if a couch is against a wall the wall space area should be measured above the furniture piece to the ceiling and the width should be the length of the furnishings. The artwork should take up only two- thirds of that measured space.

You are always able to go for one larger work but grouping smaller works together to achieve the desired dimensions is an alternative to one single artwork.

Having the correct size painting makes your house appear more luxurious and high end.
