Artist Statement:
Is there such thing as luck? Or does good fortune and success come through a series of hard work dedication and perseverance to achieve?
I create artworks inspired by luck, luxury & beauty. The representation of luck is symbolised throughout my works through the use of scratchy and lottery tickets.
Gambling representing the concept of “getting lucky” and the mindset of instant success.
In modern day society we are exposed to the continuous impression of people obtaining their success through social media overnight by the glamorous lifestyles they portray themselves living.
The over exposure of the illusion of success, beauty & luxury online has many youths convincing themselves many have just gotten lucky.
The lack of representation of the struggle, fails and perseverance one go through before achieving success is usually left out.
“Get Lucky” explores the correlation between getting lucky and achieving success through hard work.
In my works I explore the question is there such thing as luck? Or is everything achieved through a series of hard work and calculated decisions?
