“Hearts” is a mixed media artwork that has been constructed with different textures using multiple techniques for paint application.
When looking at the painting up close you can see markings of heart shapes.
The heart shape is repeated in the work to build up the textured design.
This work took a decade to complete. It was one of my last paintings that I painted when I finished art completely and had a massive break. It was put aside and never completed.
When I started art again, I decided to finish this painting. I gradually built up the texture using a piece of lino I carved a heart shape into by hand.
With this piece of lino I then stamped paint continuously onto my painting to create the layers and multiple textures and shapes of hearts.
